What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is a very simple yet powerful practice that involves breathing in a conscious and systematic way. During my workshops or 121 sessions, I guide you through continuous, circular breathing while you listen to a carefully selected playlist of healing music and sounds. This deep breathing promotes relaxation and provides a space for your subconscious to process and release blocked energy and emotions. As you access a higher state of consciousness, you may experience an emotional release that allows you to reach a state of inner peace and healing.

Contraindications and Suitability:

Please note the following considerations for participating in Breathwork sessions:

  • Participants should be in good health without any physical or mental conditions that could impair their ability to engage in this activity, endanger their health, or cause risk of harm to themselves or others.

  • Breathwork activates the autonomic nervous system, and as such, it is not suitable for pregnant women.

  • Individuals with asthma, severe heart disease, severe diabetes, epilepsy, or a history of seizures should proceed with caution and seek advice from a medical professional before participating.

  • Participants recovering from recent surgery should discuss the severity of their condition with the facilitator before participating.

  • Those with severe mental health conditions should have appropriate professional support in place and seek guidance from their healthcare provider prior to participation.

Possible Reactions and Side Effects:

During a Breathwork session, you may experience various reactions and side effects, including:

  • Physical expressions such as the need to hit, slap, or kick the floor.

  • Vocal expressions such as humming, shouting, or screaming.

  • Crying or laughing.

  • Hyperventilation.

  • Temporary discomfort.

  • Tetany (numbness and tingling in the fingers and around the mouth, hand cramps that cause fingers to curl towards the palm).

  • Short-term apnea.

Please rest assured that all Breathwork sessions are guided by a trained facilitator. It is important to remember that you are always in control of your breath, and you can adjust the intensity of the experience by breathing in a lighter and more gentle way. If you feel distressed, the facilitator will be by your side to help regulate your breathing and bring any uncomfortable symptoms to an end.
